Who are the Friends of the Library?

The Friends of the Marion Library, are just that--Friends.  This group, which was established in 1980, banded together to assist the Library in fund-raising projects, within the library, and to offer volunteer help.

What do they do?  In the past, the Friends have helped purchase the library's first public access computer.

They helped start the video library.

They help with, and fund children's programs and Summer Reading.

They sponsor fund-raisers, including the Annual Book Sale.

They contribute to the building fund.

They volunteer in the library and help with the library's annual cleaning.

How Can I Become a Friend?

You can become a member of the Friends of the Library by paying your annual membership fee.   They are as follows:

Friend:  $5.00

Buddy - $10.00

Real Pal - $15.00

Call the library at 926-4933 for additional information.

Current Projects

We are continuing to ask our friends to write their legislators to ask them for additonal aid to libraries in the upcoming supplemental budget.  Take just a moment to write a note or call  your state representatives.   If you are not sure what to say or how to say it, please ask at the desk in the library and we will be happy to provide you with a sample letter. PLEASE SUPPORT US IN THIS PROJECT.

Remember the upcoming Heritage Days Book Sale, September 22, 9-3.
